I've found a loop hole!

I have found an incredible way to get in to the property market and CANNOT believe this has not been discovered and depleted by property investors already.  But not everyone is as lateral thinking as me.  Regardless, I like to share.

What if I was to tell you that you can get a your very own piece of land for $1350?  That's all you have to pay.  Lawns are included and the neighbours are super quiet.  Although, when they do throw parties they're quite depressing.

Any guesses?  That's right!  A plot of land at a CEMETERY!

Admin fees $40 and adding a monument $150 blah blah blah - all incidentals.  The main thing is I can finally get on the property ladder.

Welcome to my new home, took me ages to save...
We all know I love basic maths - check this out:

Each plot is approx 2.5m2
Each plot is $1350
For 100m2 of land, it would cost me $54,000!  Bargain

If I buy this, I can use my new equity to get a house and I'll be covered for all stages of life and death.

No need to thank me.

Widening my Tinder search area through House Sitting

There has been an unexpected and MAJOR bonus to house sitting.  Through my varying locations, my Tinder search area for a husband boyfriend date has almost tripled. Unbelievable!
{fig.1}
Please refer to {fig.1} which displays the extended search area.

I have become so mathematical in my saving scheme mindset that I inadvertently created a VENN DIAGRAM ('sup Stephen Hawking?  I see you).  Further mathematical diagnostics conclude that the venn intersection represents the area I am statistically most likely to find a date.  RESULT - The centre of the Manukau Harbour!

Please refer to {fig.2}, my physical search in the harbour.  I feel so at ease under water.

Anyway, back to basic mathematics - if my dating potential has increased 3 times, what is three times zero 'cause baby, that's my number!

Gosh things are swell.  Get itSwell.  'Cause you know what else swells?  The ocean.

House Sitting - Is it for me? And by me, I mean you. I mean me.

I'm gunna level with you, house sitting is hard AF.  From finding the sit.... meeting the home owners.... getting a brief on how to look after fluffy... receiving a detailed account on how to use their 5 remote controls... it takes a while.

It can also be disruptive - in the past week I slept in a colleagues converted car port, at Mum's place in the Paps, finished a house sitting stint on the shore, spent night in a hostel in Ponsonby and am writing this from a beautiful bedroom in Pt Chevalier.  It has actually been a pretty fun week.  Although like anything, there are highs and lows.

That said, am I complaining?  No way suckers!  Please refer to Chandler Bing's pros and cons list below.

He is a smart man.

Want to do some basic fun maths?  I have been house sitting for 14 weeks... think about how much you pay in rent and billz.  Multiply 14 times.  That is how much you can save too!

So, is house sitting for you?  Yes, yes it is.  It's tough.  It is tiring.  But it is worth it.

Winter is coming and if all else fails, I have heating in my car so suffer in ya jocks Ned!

Fiscally yours,
Anna

Introduction

In February 2016 I returned from 3 years across the Tasman to discover that not only can I no longer afford to buy a house in Auckland, but the rental market is also extortionate.

To give a brief back story in 2013 I decided to move to Melbourne to seek greener pastures.  After 3 years I realised the pastures were brown and full of snakes.  Whoops.  I am single, in my early 30's and have an incredible ability to not commit to anything...  over a few wines I concluded that house sitting was perfect.

So bullet pointed plan below:
1.  Return to Auckland
2.  House sit for 1 whole year (in various properties and locations)
3.  Aggressively save some dollar dollar billz
4.  Buy my first property

The return to Auckland bit was easy.  Select flight, enter credit card, commence 4 week liquidation sale.

Finding House sits has actually proved fairly easy too (so far, until this blog probably).  I have a number of awesome friends who travel a lot, I have listed with a house sitting website and started a Facebook page. Much advertising, very cookies.

These are my stats so far:
97 days in Auckland
53 days house sitting
44 days in between house sits
NB:  Included in the 44 are a couple of nights staying with friends, looking after a sick family member, a cancellation and one fancy night in a backpackers in Ponsonby.

Over the coming weeks I will entertain you with such sassy topics as "House Sitting, is it for me?" "My Friend, The Bank" "How to Save and Still have a Social Life" and "Widening my Tinder search area through House Sitting".

Buckle your seat belts and sit patiently for an update in probably, let's face, it about 4 weeks when I remember my new found commitment to bloggi.... (trails off)  I hope I can provide some entertainment and insight while I seek the once obtainable kiwi dream - owning my own property.

This blog better be good or it is going to be way more embarrassing than tons of stuff that happens online.

Righto - off to hide under the pillows in a strangers bed.
